Why are some lyrics unavailable?
On some pages, you'll see the words "We cannot reproduce the lyrics here as they are still in copyright." This is because we respect UK copyright laws, whereby works (such as lyrics) are not in the public domain until 70 years after the death of their original creator. Once works are in the public domain, we can reproduce the words without permission. And yes that does mean that other websites which do show the lyrics of copyright works are, potentially, breaking the law of their own country (US copyright law is different to UK, for example). We choose not to.

Why do you link to YouTube videos and not your own recordings?
We offer links to works posted by others on YouTube so you can hear the tune; we do not endorse in any way any infringement of copyright such YouTube postings may involve, if any. If you find a broken or 'removed' YouTube video link on this site, please email us.

Can I copy your hymn words for my order of service?
Yes, of course! Any lyrics that appear on our site are copyright-free. Remember, we sometimes cut verses and use the best-know versions of words; do check with your minister if you are not sure these are the words usually used at your chosen church or crematorium.

Do you sell hymn sheet music?
No, sorry, we don't, but unless it's a very unusual piece, most churches or crematorium organists should have a copy anyway. If you book a Singers for Funerals soloists, we always provide the organist with sheet music for our solos and talk with then in advance through your chosen hymn tunes and number of verses.

How many funeral hymns do I need for a service?
In general two hymns and a solo are perfect, but it does depend on the nature of the service and the time allocated. Whilst a funeral mass may last for almost an hour and include opportunities for music throughout, a crematorium funeral service may only be 20 minutes long in total. For a short summary, see: Funeral Music Ideas at The Funeral Singers Website
